2012 Linfield vs North Central Game Highlights

Down to the last few videos of before we kick off the 2013 season and I'm happy to share with you the 'Cats 30-14 2nd round playoff victory over North Central College out of the CCIW.  NCC moved on into the 2nd round after dispatching of California Lutheran in the 1st round 41-21 and looking to be a major threat to the 'Cats.  However, the 'Cats offense was efficient and the Linfield defense was a beast in creating turnovers on the day as Linfield raced out to a 30-0 lead deep into 3rd quarter.  NCC made a late push but it was too little, too late as the 'Cats extinguished any hope late with two late interceptions to bring home another Linfield playoff victory.

"The Difference (Light Em Up)" is a finalist!

Footballscoop.com is the premiere website in the country if you want to keep up with the latest in breaking football news and coaching comings and goings on all-levels of the sport.  Over the past few years a number of programs from D1 down to high school have been submitting their highlight/hype/feature videos to Scoop in the hope of getting some exposure for their programs.  Only the best videos make the cut and we've been fortunate to have a number of our videos run on the site.

Footballscoop.com decided to hold their 1st "Video of the Year" contest and broke it out between FBS Division/non-FBS/High School.  Scoop has been receiving nominations from programs over the past few weeks and today they've revealed their finalists.  Our spring motivation/highlight video "The Difference (Light Em Up)" was selected by the Footballscoop.com staff as a finalist in the Non-FBS division.  A group of four judges outside of the Footballscoop.com family will select the winner that will be revealed next Monday (July 22nd).  Other Non-FBS finalists come from University of St. Thomas, Southern Oregon University, Otterbein, South Dakota State, and St. Olaf. The competition is thick but I think our video will give them a run for their money.

2012 Linfield vs Pacific Game Highlights

Our last regular season highlight video of the 2012 season came in the form of a 51-17 shellacking of the Pacific University Boxers.  The 'Cats exploded late in the 1st half to post up 23 consecutive points to take a commanding 37-10 lead at the break.  Pacific capitalized on two Linfield turnovers to keep the game close early before bending to the 'Cats' will as constant pressure and hits in the backfield took Pacific off the tracks for good midway in the 2nd quarter.  Linfield's offense had an electric day throwing the rock around the 'Catdome as the Purple, Red, and White combined for 425 passing yards and 5 passing TD's.  The Linfield defense feasted on the Boxer offense line in piling up 7 sacks, a number of QB hits, and 15 tackles for loss.  The end result was 68 yards lost rushing and Pacific only managing 150 total yards on the day.

Pacific spun the game as a tell of two games with one with their 1st string QB (kept it close) and one without their 1st string QB (getting opened up on) but the bottom line is that the Boxer QB couldn't do anything about the Boxers getting shredded up front and having Linfield racking up yards via the air almost at-will.  It was only a matter of time before Linfield smashed the gas peddle and sprinted to a big lead (ask Willamette about that).

Not to get totally down on Pacific as they are an improving program that's taking steps each season to be a consistent top half player in the Northwest Conference.  The Boxers are returning their 1st true senior class since rebooting their program in 2010 and have close to high single to double digit starters on each side of the ball with 2-3 years of starting experience.  The maturity has seen the Boxers toughen up greatly vs the run and allowed Pacific to be more balanced on offense.  Pacific is going to be a team next season that others in the Northwest Conference are going to have to worry about as the Boxers have already passed Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark and have their eyes on the next rung in the NWC ladder.  As for the Linfield vs Pacific 2013 match-up in mid-Novermeber?  Well, Pacific better find an answer for the 'Cats defensive front quickly if they have a true desire to take down the conference's flagship program.

2013 Football Camp Highlight Video!

The 'Cats wrapped up their 26th annual high school football camp a week ago and once again it was a great time. From June 15th-23rd Linfield hosted over 1,500 high school players over 2 sessions of camp that include over 4 days each of position technique breakdown, individual team time, controlled full contact scrimmages, and nightly team competition that feature a tug 'o war, sumo contest, and more. Linfield's camp is regarded as one of the best camps in the Pacific Northwest and it's easy to see why.

The camp features teams from Washington, Oregon, and Northern California.
